Testimonials:

*Hello, everyone. My name is Dr. Jonathan Kasper and I’m a jazz guitar student of Suzahn Fiering. I have a deep background in music theory and composition, and I’ve studied and taught guitar most of my adult life. Despite my knowledge and experience, there was a disconnect with my understanding of Jazz guitar. But that all changed when I started studying with Suzahn. I have never had a better jazz instructor. Suzahn’s unique and inventive, Layering Method, of jazz guitar instruction is the best and most accessible approach I’ve ever seen by a long shot. And the easy, straightforward, non-intimidating way she is able to present the material is literally a Godsend!! I’ve never learned so much about chords, theory and soloing as I have with Suzahn. Take my word here, if you want to learn a simple, direct approach to playing jazz guitar that works and works super fast, there is no better way than the Suzahn Fiering, Layering Method. Everything imaginable has improved for me; my live performances, my compositions, and even my studio recordings. Suzahn has helped me understand the entire guitar neck in a whole new and easy way. She’s just great! Jonathan Kasper, Ph.D Music Education.

* Suzahn is a dedicated, innovative and CUTTING EDGE Jazz guitar instructor with students around the globe.  She is a stalwart mentor and confidante PAR EXCELLENCE and the type of person you trust with your career, your dreams and your very contentment. I will always be deeply appreciated BEYOND MERE WORDS. After decades of trying, I can finally play jazz guitar. Peter Stillwell.

For over 20 years I tried to become a better guitar player but I never really believed I was good enough. I was super intimidated by other players and teachers who were lacking patients and did not communicate well and made me feel small. Now, I can read jazz changes, solo in every key, and sing with so much more confidence. And I have a new found passion for the once daunting music theory. Thanks Suzahn Fiering and the, Layering Method!  Mary Garcia.

I was fired by 7 teachers… Seriously, I am not kidding!! But Suzahn would not give up on me. She showed me the way to understanding jazz composition through the guitar and piano. I am now having success as a jazz songwriter and it would not have happened without Suzahn. Margee Forman, Internationally acclaimed, top 10 songwriter.

I have to thank Suzahn who is an amazing musician and now friend who taught my daughter. Missy has not only become a much better musician, but Suzahn also showed her that music is another way to express emotions and feelings. Missy plays guitar and writes songs because of Miss Suzahn. We love dear Suzahn!!  Missy’s Mom

*Suzahn has taught both my daughter and my grand nieces and nephews. Wow, what a loving and supportive teacher. The things she taught those children to play is incredible. They loved her and always looked forward to their lessons. Suzahn really helped my daughter through a very difficult time, and showed her that music is extremely healing. Suzahn has become a part of our family and we are forever grateful.  6 time Grammy winning singer, songwriter and artist.

*I just wanted to thank you so much for yesterday lesson. I am not particularly confident but somehow you make me feel like I can do it ! You amaze me! It felt so good that you could tell I worked hard at Moondance. I truly appreciate you!  Joyce M

Physical & Learning Disabilities:

Suzahn has made my life better. I started with Suzahn when I was six. Suzahn helped me in spite my learning disabilities and has given me confidence and belief in myself. I can really play guitar including jazz, I am not afraid of music theory, and like to play with other students my age. I can’t thank you enough Miss Suzahn. Frank S. (Aged 16).

*After having Covid, I developed a severe copper deficiency that caused neuropathy in my legs and trigger fingers in both hands. My right hand was more severely impacted (still good enough to hold a thicker pick-a life saver) and left is good enough to form chords. As a former guitar player, I wanted to play again; after a recent year of being ‘self-taught,’ I knew I had to fire my teacher and find a real one. Through an online referral from someone who also has challenges, I contacted Suzahn, and the rest is history. As a former school teacher of students with special needs, she’s been a delight to work with. Lessons have shown alternative chords to accommodate my limitations, suggestion for a smaller guitar to fit my limited reach, as well knowledge of the industry and performers. I forgot to mention patience during lessons as I tend to chase music ideas down rabbit holes and she needs to reel me back in. As an instructor/student relationship she’s been a true gift to learning and has brought joy to playing my guitar- or hope to the formerly hopeless cynic.  Michael M

*For over 11 years Suzahn has worked with our special needs daughter and has taken her to places no one would ever believed possible. She has held our hands during the hard times and given us hope that Maddie could achieve far more than what we were told she could. Suzahn met her where she was an took her to highest potential with love, laughter and understanding. We love Miss Suzahn and are eternally grateful to her.  Kate M.

*As a former guitar player (used loosely) I decided to learn to play again. After suffering nerve damage, I wanted to find someone with experience in teaching the ‘physically challenged.’ Through a recommendation, I was directed to Suzahn. Practicing used to be a real chore and with disappointing results. Under her direction lessons have been, fun, and informative; when the size of my guitar out-grew me, she recommend a parlor guitar with terrific sound for the size dispelling the often repeated myth of ‘size’ matters. I never thought I’d embrace practicing but having direction, encouragement, patience and a great sense of humor really makes a big difference; I am now amazed at how fast daily practice flies by and actually believe I WILL GET BETTER. You will, too, and will actually learn the guitar as well as music in general and the industry. Great teachers (I married one and know) are hard to find, and if you’re lucky enough have one in your lifetime, you know immediately how fun learning can become. Stuart M.
